ABOUT
Based in Highland Perthshire, Lyndsey Davidson is a printmaker working across letterpress, cyanotype, and photogravure processes. Her practice is shaped by a close relationship with the landscapes she lives and works within, exploring themes of decay, regeneration, and cyclical growth as they unfold in the natural world.
Fungi frequently appear in Lyndsey’s prints as potent symbols of renewal, resilience, and interconnectedness. Inspired by both the forest floor and the canopies above, her imagery reflects a deep engagement with place and ecology.
Lyndsey studied Contemporary Art Practice at College in Edinburgh in 2003 before completing a BDes (Hons) in Design and Digital Art. During her academic training, her practice focused on the creation of immersive environments that merged digital processes with the natural world; an interdisciplinary approach that continues to inform her contemporary printmaking and material experimentation.
Alongside her individual practice, Lyndsey has run Letterpress Print Studio (The Hunter Press) for the past thirteen years. This sustained professional engagement has fostered a strong technical understanding of traditional print processes and has informed her commitment to place-based, materially responsive modes of making.
Lyndsey is currently undertaking research into botanical toning and natural dye baths, funded by Creative Scotland, deepening her connection to her surroundings while expanding her practice through experimentation and site-responsive making.
